For this project, we chose a spanish speaking country to do research about. For our country, we decided to research Ecuador. Our goal was to create a survival for our country. Our survival guide included information about food, transportation, shopping, etc. One of our team members wrote about the Galapagos Islands and scuba diving, so we decided to create a skit out of that scenario. Each of us had ten lines that we translated into spanish and memorized. Along with writing a skit and memorizing lines, we created props to go along with our scenario. We made fish and coral since our setting was in the ocean.
I learned a lot about Ecuador by doing this project, however, the most interesting thing I learned about Ecuador is they believe nature deserves constitutional rights. Since the Galapagos Islands are home to many indigenous species, their regard for nature is greater than other countries.
Some of the positives that came from this project was I felt like my writing improved significantly, and I also believe my public speaking did as well. Because each of our scenarios were so unique and included so many different aspects of writing, I was able to apply our new spanish concepts such as commands. I also believe by performing our spanish skits, my public speaking and pronunciation improved. Overall, I really enjoyed this project.
